Hashcat cracking Nvidia GTX 970 vs AMD R9 290x benchmarks

For those of you looking to get a new graphics card. Here is an idea what you can do with some high end but not over priced hardware. Two cards that come home mind are the nvidia gtx 970 graphics card and the r9 290x. So there is a cracking breakdown so that you know what card to get if you like raw cracking power house.

If your wondering what the r9 290x will be able to do check out this benchmarks http://localtechrepair.blogspot.com/2013/06/benchmarking-pyrit-and-oclhashcat-plus.html
I have the slight older 7970 ghz though same chipsets so should be close at md5 hash Speed.GPU.#1...: 7114.7M/s
With updated software and on the 290x card you can see the results here. https://gist.github.com/epixoip/8171031 that gives you a md5 hash Speed.GPU.#1.: 10200.8 MH/s
Comepare that to a gtx 970 speeds found here https://gist.github.com/joshuaskorich/7678d4fcbf49acb69387 of md5 hash Speed.GPU.#1.: 9524.5 MH/s
At time of this writing the price difference between the 290x ND the 970 is a huge $70
~340 for the 970 EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Super Clocked ACX 2.0 4GB GDDR5 Graphics Card https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NVODXR4/?tag=httplocaltech-20

And ~270 for 290x XFX Double D R9 290 947MHz 4GB DDR5 DP HDMI 2XDVI Graphics Cards R9290AEDFD https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HHIPM5Q/?tag=httplocaltech-20
So with the newer 290x AMD came a long way in improving the card over all performance.
